Start with the work local organizations already do.
AFS is a student-led nonprofit exploring how better operational tools and more reliable handoffs can make community food programs easier to run. That is a long-term hypothesis—not a claim that we already operate Atlanta’s food network.
The hypothesis
A practical tool can be valuable to one organization before it ever becomes part of a network.
If that tool solves a real, repeated problem, it may eventually make coordination with another organization easier. We are interested in inventory and intake, surplus and handoffs, and the places where useful food gets stuck between organizations.
The restart
Listen before we build.
Our immediate focus is reconnecting with local organizations, seeing how a real food item moves through a workflow, and identifying one problem worth piloting.
A pilot must have a partner who wants to test it, a defined outcome, and enough repeated use to tell us whether the tool makes work easier.

We are building the organization so its work can continue as students graduate.

Work with us
If you work with food, volunteers, inventory, pickups, or distribution in metro Atlanta, we would value a conversation about how your work actually happens.
